UJM highly recommends Google Apps. We switched to their service not long ago and, even though the charge is per account, the amount of time we have saved not having to deal with blacklisting and SPAM control has made it worth every penny.
Additionally, Google Apps provides shared calendars, spreadsheets and word documents that you can share with other Google members as well as a generous amount of space to share files (Google Drive).
We also recommend Microsoft’s 365 Exchange service, which has become much more affordable in recent years.
Should you decide to upgrade to either services, we are available to assist with the process. Some of our clients have elected to sign up directly with Google or Microsoft (they even offer special plans for non-profits) and deal directly with them for all their email needs; others have asked UJM to handle the whole signup process and be the first level of support.
The monthly cost is a little higher if we handle it, but you don’t have to worry about contacting Google when there’s an issue.
Remember, you don’t have to take any action at this time if email works fine for you and you rarely need UJM assistance to address any issues. Just be aware that any email tasks going forward will be billable unless there is a hosting issue or you are on a general maintenance contact with us.
